Hello!

I upgraded from a GTX 660ti to a far more powerful GTX 780 but when I booted up my PC and tried out Skyrim with my new pc but then my monitor started flashing and then it stopped and a message told me that "display driver has stopped working and has recovered" and then I googled the problem and tried out this fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946

and then this:

and then this:

With no luck :( Now my PC just freezes 30 seconds into any game or stress test. Does anybody out there have a clue what it is?

Specs:

CPU: Intel i5 3570k ivy bridge
RAM: 2x 8GB + 2x 4GB = 24 GB (16 GB usable)
STORAGE: 2x 1TB HDD + 1x 120GB SSD
GPU: Asus Geforce GTX 780 DirectCU II
PSU: 650W

Solution
Any decent 650W PSU will push a 780 ti easy, if that is in fact the problem. Look for a Seasonic, XFX, or EVGA G2 Supernova (make sure it's a G2). And wattage doesn't really matter, it's the amperage on the 12V rail...

If you are sure the drivers are good, does the freeze only happen in games, or in windows also? If it's in games only (or under heavy load), it could be the PSU.

I've tried this mutliple times too :( I used Guru3D's driver sweeper and then I re-installed the newest Nvidia drivers.

Should I try to uninstall them manually?

How can I mesure the power consumption? Can I see the history somehow? I don't have my GTX 660 ti anymore, I sold to my friend.

Thank you for your reply. It only freezes in games and stress tests so yeah, I think it's the PSU.

I don't know where to start looking for PSUs, can you help me? What's a G2? My current PSU is a CoolerMaster Bronze 650w (that's what it says on the PSU itself).

edit: I accidentally pressed best solution lol, but k.

Thanks for the recommendation but I think won't buy it.

I don't get it. I used Coolermasters PSU calculator and it told me I needed a minimum of 450 W even though I already have 650 W. What the hell!?
