Are you on wireless or wired.
some steps you can take, where it shows your connection on the bottom right, (signal bars or ethernet connection) you can right click it and troubleshoot the connection. ( will normally give you a good idea where to start)
Also you can try to test the system in Safe mode with networking to see if the issue continues or get different results.

Click on the wireles icon to see the connections, find the one you want to connect to and double click it. I'm assuming you know the password already.
