I have been looking at forums and people are saying that u cannot use a DVI-D to VGA adapter if your monitor is just VGA (like mine). Will i have to get a new one? Also i have an adapter but i did not work... So is it just my adapter?

DVI-I to VGA adapters should work with analog monitors, but you have to ensure your card supports the feature.

Some cards had a bad habit of including the DVI-I port but only having DVI-D support on it. Most cards have at least one port that will do DVI-I -> VGA, but some with 2 DVI-I ports will only support it on one of the ports.

What video card do you have anyway?

I have used a regular basic DVI to VGA in the past you shouldnt have any issues, you just cannot go VGA to DVI. try to get ahold of another adapter to test it or cable i would do that before going crazy buying a monitor.

those video adapter go bad really easily, or any type of video conversion could give you those types of issues.
