RAM issue in Windows and in Bios

I recently installed 2x6Gb DDR3 RAM sticks into my MSI MS7721 A78M-E35 AMD A78 FM2+ M/B motherboard, but both on Windows and in Bios it shows up as 4Gb. I have Windows home premium 64 bit. I also have ensured that the sticks are firmly clicked in and all wires are connected.

Theres no such thing as 6gb sticks of ram. They come in 1, 2, 4, or 8gb.
Its looks like you might have been mislead.

Do you have the model number of the RAM?

It says 6Gb on each of the 6 sticks. I got them from a friend. So what it means each of the sticks is two gigs and each set of three is 6?
