I have a pretty decent computer (R9 270x, MSI G45 Z87 motherboard, i54670K, 8 gigs of 2133Mhz ram), it's a year and a half old and in the past couple of months when it's on for a couple of hours it starts to slow down a lot. When I play games, after I close them it's even slower, sometimes games drop to 5 fps (Games I used to get 60+ on). I need to restart to fix this, but sometimes it gets so bad that even when I have nothing open it takes a minute or so from when I right click the start button (windows 8) to when the menu appears so I can restart. Turning it off is slow as well, sometimes takes up to a minute or 2 just to restart (turning it on is very slow as well), and when I turn it off, and it turns off completely the fans keep spinning and glowing, they only shut down after a couple of minutes.

What could cause this? I built the computer myself and it's been working fine for a year, I don't think I messed anything up (or damaged parts). It's also 100% not a virus since I even tried formatting and reinstalling windows but it didn't fix it. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I forgot to add this (don't know if it helps), it blue screened on me like 3-4 times in the last 6 months, nothing before that and sometimes when I need to turn it off using the power button the last half or so second of audio loops.

I would. It is a year and a half years old so that could be the case too. I really doubt it though.

Pretty much any game I try to play after it's turned on for a while. I think I still have everything under warranty so should I just get it checked out if anything is broken?
