Problem: OK so I have recently bought a new graphics card the MSI Twin Frozr lll GTX 660 it has been running fine and getting decent fps (62- 240) on games like Team Fortress 2, Minecraft, Smite, and League of Legends with no random shutdowns.
Then I was playing Just Cause 2, I exceeded the recommended requirements to play the game, and approximately 15 min in the game my computer shutted down with no warning.
My fan and everything else works so I guess it must be because my power supply

My Specs:

- Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit
- Memory (RAM) 8.2 GB
- Processor AMD FX -4300 Quad-Core Processor (3.8 Ghz)
- Drive Size 931.2 GB
- PSU 500w 12 v (I dont know what manufacturer its from)

So will it work if i buy a separate power supply just for my GPU

Ok (if I post twice my wifi is lagging also got error) but from what I'm reading it sounds like your psu is going out, did you hear the fans slow down or speed up? From experience my psu shut off my fans every 15min and shut off at 20mins

Is there a light on your board? (There should be a colored light) once you spot this light check it, if it shuts off and powers on back quickly or just shuts off can still be a failing psu

It's ok, if you open the case there is a board at the bottom your graphics card sits on it and your power connectors of to it. (It's under almost everything) DONT TOUCH THE BOARD UNLESS ALL POWERS ARE OFF.

Some games use more cpu or gpu usage which can cause a higher load on them. Does your gpu have any cords going into the top or sides? Or is it just sitting in the mother board?
