What is the fastest dvd-rom drive?

I have a Lg super multi drive. It reads at 2x brand new. I'am looking for the highest speed dvd rom drive. I don't care about burning anything, just super fast read speeds. please help

I have a 24x and many of them don't acualy read at that speed. It is "up to 24" but hardy ever that fast. I'v have three over the years, one reads at 7.5x the other 5.2x and my lastest a LG super multi reads at 2.36x. This LG is the most popular and the worst yet. You never get 24x

I actually misread the specs for some drives. Most of them read at up to 16x, but can burn at up to 24x, if you can find the correct discs. The Asus DRW-24B1ST I have in my desktop I've seen top out at 14x when verifying a burned image, but only if that burned image fills the entire disc.

As you know i don't intend to write with this drive, i already have a quick burner. I'm looking for the fastest drive that can read only. Most start to read at 2x in the center out to rim of disk ending to its max 24x or whatever it may be. Do you think a plextor may read any faster or is there another that is known for its high speed for reading a disc. Thnx
