I recently had my computer give out while gaming. Initially, I thought it may be the video card so I changed out my 560ti in place of my wife's cheaper card that doesn't use a power plug from the power supply. I recently bought a new graphics card and went through the motions to set it up and when I attempted to turn it on the fans on the card came on but no video. Is it possible that the power supply (Antec 750W) has something wrong? The computer boots up fine with the gfx card that doesn't use power from the psu.

Yep, I just tried a friend's computer last night. His system did not boot up with that card.

i5-2600k
Antec 750W PSU
msi P67A-GD65 (B3) mobo
8GB Corsair Vengeance ram
500GB Seagate HDD

Can the connectors go bad and the psu still power other components w/o fail?

if this was a psu issue, it should have worked in your friends pc..

DVI, I was running to monitors on the 560ti. My wife's budget card only has a DVI connection for one card (Radeon 5670). This card doesn't use a connector from the psu.

Well, I have a new video card, but nothing displays when I boot it up. The monitor doesn't indicate anything but the light on the monitor will blink on and off (nothing on screen, just the on-button).

this issue might bring in multiple factors

your psu might be failing to deliver power to the system on cable powered cards
or
your psu might be killing the cable powered cards
or
your mobo might have had some damage in the pci-e slot

yep, i switched cables and monitors. nothing shows up on screen in any variation of connections. right now, i'm on the computer with the video card that doesn't connect to the psu just sits in the mobo. i replaced the psu and the same situation happens, so it can't be a psu issue. even with the new psu, the new card won't show anything on the monitor but the fans will run on the card.

i put in a new psu, the video card that doesn't connect to the computer boots up and that is what i am using as i write this post. when the new card is put in, nothing comes up on the screen but the fans run on the card. i tried the other pci-e slot on the mobo and the card that doesn't connect to the psu boots up, the new card does not show anything on the screen. should i try to install the drivers before i put in the new card, but shouldn't that happen after i put the new card in?

gpu must work without drivers.. the new card is probably defective

have you tried the new card in your friends system?

So, I replaced the card for another R9 270X. I still have the same problem, nothing shows up on the screen. I've switched monitors, DVI cables, PSU, threw in some jumping jacks. IDK. I'm assuming there is a problem with detecting the card to produce video on the monitor. I've ran a scan on MSI Live Update 6 to see if I'm missing some update but nothing shows up (Mobo: P67A-GD65). BIOS Installed version states: Item MS-7681 Installed Version: 1.J0

At this point a miracle would be nice.
