im having issues with low FPS on games,
my physical memory seems to be always lingering around 50% with nothing running,

My RAM:

Performance Chart (possibly helpful to you)
recorded during Arma 3 multiplayer on lowest possible settings with minimal activity ,just some helicopter flying:

Sorry about that confusing 2nd pink line on the chart, luckliy it stays low and out of the way

My other Specs:
450w PSU
EVGA gtx750Ti superclocked variant
Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66GHz
RAM^^^
and it is assembled on the skeleton (mobo, HDD, case, wiring) of a Dell Optiplex 780

Cheers

Solution
Only strain would really be on your CPUand CPU cooling system, your GPU would be fine.

That RAM usage is normal. Windows caches frequently used programs while the computer is idle to give is faster response times. When memory is needed Windows will flush that stuff out of RAM and give it to whatever process needs it.
From the pictures you listed your CPU is getting maxed out at 100%, that is what is limiting your performance. You will need to overclock but I don't know how much you would need to OC to alleviate the bottle neck, you could get a higher end Core 2 Quad like a 9xxx off ebay for a decent price. You may be better off buying a new CPU and motherboard.

cool, I didnt realise :)
does overclocking a processor put any risk/strain on the other components?
i.e will i risk frying my brand new GPU

oh what about my RAM, is that ok/normal performance then?
thanks

Thanks!
I looked into OCing my particular processor and its not worth the time and money, or just impossible is a better way of putting it.
buying a more modern CPU leads to a snowball effect of incongruity that makes me cry ...
special thanks to my mess of a rig -the holy grail of incompatibility !

my only choice , which isnt really all that terrible, is to buy a dated ,most likely 2nd hand, Q9000 CPU from the same era as my Q8400,

it should suffice for my basic gaming needs for a few years till i bite the bullet and do a total rebuild
