Maximus VII Hero A2 (IDE Detect)

I finished building my computer yesterday and installed windows 7 on it, when i run into the problem that it does not want to boot up on my SSD. I understand that windows could have problems with multiple device connected and choose which it should boot up to, so i unplugged my HDD, so I only had my SSD and optical drive connected to the sata ports, and installed windows again. I also made sure that my SSD is the first boot priority, but i all ways end up with the screen that tells me "press F1 to enter setup". I can choose to override the boot priority and start up on the SSD and it let me boot into windows, I can also choose the Exit and discard changes and it will start up into windows and i believe it is also possible to boot up on windows if i Exit and save changes from BIOS (if no changes was made).

I have updated the BIOS the moment i had plugged the power to it, and all the settings is by default. (AHCI mode is also on by default)

Help is much appreciated

Try disabling the ASMedia SATA controller in BIOS. See if still the same.

If removing the SSD and booting from DVD drive or HDD, still F1?

Not only changing priority, but disconnecting SSD (power turned off).

It's related to the CPU Fan. Just go in BIOS and lower the minimum CPU Fan speed (default 600 - set it to 300).

just checked the fan controls all was on 300 rpm, the cpu fan is a corsair h100i the fans is connected to it, and is plugged into the cpu opt pin

Then set it to ignore (although not recommended).
Why didn't you plug the connector in the CPU_fan header?

Was looking in the user guide for the motherboard and the cpu-opt and cpu-fan was connected to the number 3 and so thought it could be used for the same purpose, this is my first time building a system

Try the CPU_Fan header. If still same error, set it to 200, or if still no go, to Ignore.

I just switched it over to the cpu-fan, now it gives me a A2 then blinks 2-3 times, goes into bios and now gives me AE for (Legacy boot event)

It doesn't find a bootable drive. Power off and connect back the SSD.

Yea it works, changed boot priority to the DVD drive and it boots up normal onto a Windows CD, connected back the SSD and changed it to back to that. Thanks a lot, you are my hero
