Recently Ive been having difficulty playing league, maybe bc of the new map? game would freeze up, fps dropping. videoplay has been laggy. Also noticed when im playing league cpu usage would spike to 100% hence the freezing. is this not normal?
I built this comp last year and never tried to do any tweaking, partly because I am a noob. so would like to see if i can overclock this.

Processor: Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell Quad-Core 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I54670K
RAM: 8.GB
CORSAIR CX series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80
Asus z87A

What other info do you guys need to know?

And this is a silly question but you can have problems with your computer overheating and frying but can your computer be too cold to work properly??

Solution

it means you can overclock but will get nothing in return, it will not increase your performance in games. What you really need from the start is a discrete gpu, one that is decent enough to play your games. Know this: no integrated graphic is good enough yet to play any modern games at FHD resolution. The best integrated graphic from Intel is Intel Iris Pro which is only on par with Nvidia GT 650M (a laptop gpu) and by today standard it is a very weak gpu for playing games in FHD. So I suggest you buy a discrete gpu for your gaming needs.

Here's my suggestion since idk how many budget you have if you really want to buy new gpu:

For a bare minimum to play games at FHD...

well im not familiar to league, is it LoL? idk about how many unit is rendered at once, or how many spell and effects are casted at once, but we need the info of your GPU/VGA. Do you have one?

oh, and no, no cpu will be too cold to operate unless you use liquid nitrogen and not overclocking it lol.

That CPU should be unlocked so, as long as you have a board that allows CPU multiplier adjustments you should be able to take it up a bit. It's probably already 'boosting' on it's own, though.

I think your issue is this -

You can overclock until your CPU melts but it's not going to make your 'Intel HD Graphics' any faster. You need to pick up a good graphics card.
As far as being to cold to operate (for just the CPU), it is possible, but we're talking obscenely low temps (on the order of 100 Kelvin and below).

Here's my suggestion since idk how many budget you have if you really want to buy new gpu:

For a bare minimum to play games at FHD: GT 750 Ti or R7-260
For minimum comfortable decent setting at FHD: GTX760 or R9-270X
For high end setting at FHD or even QHD: GTX770 or R9-280X

If you have a budget around $350 for gpu, I'd recommend a sweetspot from Nvidia: GTX970. This beast can handle anything you throw at it at FHD resolution (1080p).

thanks but I dont want to be spending anything over $100 for a graphics card. Im not that much of a gamer. Ive been having problems not just with the game but with youtube and internet explorer so Im going to have to assume I have some kind of a bug so Im going to try to reinstall os first and see if problem still persists I will have to get a new card. I am surprised though that your bare minimum options GT 750 Ti or R7-260 are around $100 =[
