Sound Won't Work On Desktop

Alright, so I just bought and installed a new graphics card and crossfired it with my other one. Here is were the problem now comes into play.

After installing it, now my sound won't work for some reason. It worked just fine yesterday when I was playing music through my speakers. So, I check to see if there are any new drivers to be installed and there aren't any.

While looking for solutions on Google, I get a blue screen that says that my computer needs to restart due to some fatal error. I couldn't get what type of error it was before my screen restarted (sorry). My computer started up again without a hitch so I didn't give it too much merit.

I tried trouble shooting the problem and it simply comes up with that I need to plug in my headphones or speakers. I try that and nothing happened. I take apart my computer and look to see if there is anything that I can fix or if a loose wire is the cause, and of course it isn't. I go back to check to see if there is any new drivers and I know see that, "High Definition Audio Bus" has been deleted from my system devices and I have no idea what happened to it. Also, apparently my other graphics card is now not being shown up on the device manager.

I have no idea what to do from here so I hope that someone on here will be able to help me.

I should also add that both my mother board and cards are able to support cross firing.

Specs:
ASUS M5A99FX PRO
SAPPHIRE 100364L Radeon R9 270X 2GB CrossFireX Support Video Card (X2)

EDIT: Alright, so now my computer recognizes my the graphics card and now I have three "High Definition Audio Bus" under system devices. Now hopefully this will be the last problem.

The, "High Definition Audio Bus" can't start for some reason. I've tried to update the driver for it and to try to disable then enable the device but it refuses to start.

EDIT #2: I just tried setting my computer back to a previous date in wishing that the audio would work, but to no success. I will try this later tomorrow night.

Thank you all for helping me so far and willing to continually help me through my PC problem. Thank you very much

Paperdoc suggestion could be right, make sure your Realtek device is the default sound device, however I have no idea how to do that on Windows 8, so you'll have to figure that out on your own.

I'm not sure however that the Code 10 error would be caused by the lack of being set as default audio driver, try disabling the onboard audio interface in BIOS, enter windows and uninstall it, it shouldn't get installed again on its own, after that restart, enable it and install it again.

Another possibility is that your PSU isn't really being able to handle the load, it's a good PSU indeed but all components degrade over time so if you've had it for some years now it's degradation is something to consider.

A last possibility quite unlikely...

Yes, my psu is able to support both cards (Corsair TX650), I tried to update my drivers for my second card but it claims that it already has all of the updates. I plug my headphones or speakers through the audio jack on the front panel of tower.

And if I'm correct, my mobo. I don't have a dedicated sound card.

I just checked and nothing is muted from my playback menu. There are somethings that are disabled, but that is because I don't have my tower attached to my TV via HDMI. Also, I think the problem may be that one of my "High Definition Audio Bus" devices under "System Devices" won't start for some reason, I tried to install drivers and disabling and enabling it again but it refuses to start.

I don't think that this is applicable anymore since I'm running windows 8.1. Plus, the bus just showed up again after I restarted my system. My card did show up again since I restarted my system but thank you nonetheless

No, it doesn't work sadly. I still have a "High Definition Audio Bus" that cannot start or is "Code 10". I'm looking for something to try to make it start right now.

I looked on microsoft website for the "Fix It" app but it isn't compatiable for Windows 8.1 :(

I uninstalled these buses from the Device Manager. I just restarted my computer and now I don't have any HD Audio Buses. I now have three HD Audio Controllers with one of them now decicding to not be able to start.

Yes I have and it doesn't show any of the HD Audio Buses. I try to uninstall the bad HD Audio Controller and a few seconds later it just comes back. I have no idea what the hell to do from here, I just might need to take it in :(

So you had sound before the change, when you plugged speakers into the front panel jack. But now that a second video card is installed and set to Crossfire mode, no sound. You believe there is no audio chip on the mobo.

Inside the case, where are the wires from the front panel audio jacks plugged in? IF they are plugged into a port on the mobo itself, that tells us two things:
1. You DO have a mobo audio chip, or there would not be a mobo audio port; and,
2. When the second video card was installed, its Install process by default probably changed Windows' Default Sound Device to the sound chip in the video card, and NOT the one on your mobo. Hence, no sound on the front panel. Take a close look at the back edge of your video cards. If they have audio jacks on them, try plugging your speakers in there. If there are no such jacks, you will have to change Windows' setting for the Default Sound Device back to the mobo audio chip. This means that the video card will no longer be able to send audio out on the HDMI cable, but you're not using that, anyway.

IF, on the other hand, the front panel audio jacks' cord is plugged into one of your video cards somewhere, you could try changing which video card it is plugged into. You might also check in the video cards' configuration app to see if you need to make any adjustment regarding sound in the new Crossfire setup.

I have been looking around trying to find these drivers and I can't find them anywhere. It may just be that I'm tired or just that frustrated with it

Try looking for your mobo model in Google.

If the sound is onboard. Thats where the drivers are

Go to services see if windows audio service is running. If it isnt try and start it and see if it brings up an error

And if AVG is installed this can cause this prob

Alright, so I tried using the most up-to-date driver that was available from ASUS (which was Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.7058). However, my computer said that it was the most up-to-date driver that was installed onto my system. I don't think that the Realtek Driver is giving my this much trouble. It is this stupid HD Audio Controller that won't run.

I know for a fact that my wires for the front panel are plugged into the mobo and that it says that my speakers are not plugged in according to my playback option screen. According to this screen, only my Realtek Digital Output and Realtek Digital Output(optical) are working/"in"
