Keyboard stopped working please help

I have a new build and i installed windows 7 and all the mobo drivers and everything worked great until I updated the mobo drivers with the supplied software and then my mouse stopped working so i dug through some things and got the mouse to work by uninstalling it in device manager and then the mouse worked and still does but not my keyboard stopped working what am i doing wrong and how do i know which device to delete out of device manager please help

i switched the keyboard to a usb3.0 and it works now even though its a 2.0 device and should have worked in the spot it was in but whatever the case the printer is in the old plug and the keyboard is in a 3.0 and all is good
