I'm having issues with my PC that I built recently. It seemed to work just fine at first, but lately it's been acting odd. The screen will flicker from time to time, but only for a second at the longest. Also, the display will randomly turn off and the screen will go black, but I can still hear all the sounds happening, which means the PC is obviously still running. When this happens, I can't get the display to come back on and have to reset the computer before the display will appear again. I've tried updating drivers, I've tried running the PC in safe mode (which, oddly, did work with no flickering or display problems), I've tried using a different HDMI cable, I've tried using an HDMI to DVI converter, I've tried so many things. Any help would be VERY MUCH appreciated. It's getting frustrating and I really don't want to RMA my GPU, but will if I have to.

Specs:

Case: NZXT Phantom 240 ATX Mid Tower
MOBO: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+

Solution
Boot into safe mode. Do a clean uninstall of your video card's graphics drivers. Boot normally into windows default drivers, reinstall your card's drivers. That should fix the issue. This is not a hardware issue. At all.

Ok, I'll give it a try. When I reinstall them, is it going to be the same process as the first time I installed them?

Ok, so here's what I did: I booted windows into safe mode. Next, I used the application "Display Driver Uninstaller" by Guru3D. Next, I reinstalled the graphics drivers for my card. My screen still flickers, and now my PC crashed with the error "system_thread_exception_not_handled." Did I do something wrong?

Update: Since this, I have restored 3 times due to multiple bluescreens with different errors every time. I've gotten NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM, BAD_POOL_HEADER, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, and SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. I have no idea what's going on. I just installed a windows update hoping that it maybe will fix the problem. All the while, my screen still flickers and goes black randomly with sounds still playing in the background. Please help, anyone!

Ok, I'm pretty sure I figured it out. The problem is that the newest drivers for the Radeon R7 260X (14.9) have been causing crashes on not only my PC, but anyone else who has a setup similar to mine. I found the info about it here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/GPU-1410.... Anyone else who has a situation similar to mine, I hope this fixes it for you, because I know how it felt to be completely clueless and helpless.
1: Just uninstall the latest drivers with the AMD Catalyst software
2: Follow the link in my comment to the AMD forum
3: Follow the link on THEIR forum to the old drivers (14.4)
4: Install them, but DO NOT upgrade to the newest drivers if prompted.

Again, this is what fixed it for me, so far. I hope it works for anyone else so they don't have to be left helpless like I was. Thanks for the support (or lack thereof since no one except DarkSable helped).

Sorry mate; oftentimes the forums have an issue where it doesn't register that a question has been responded to, or I would have come back to help you. Normally the forums aren't nearly so quiet... but it's also the week before finals for any of us university students, so people don't have as much free time to help out.

Sorry to hear that you were having issues with it, and that AMD's drivers buggered up again. Everything is working cleanly now?
