Upgrading computer parts

My current setup is:
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 2.6 GHz True Quad-Core
Motherboard: ASUS Crosshair 2 Formula
Memory: 4gb ddr2 1066
Graphics card: Geforce 8800 gts 512MB
PS: 800W
OS: Vista Ultimate sp2

I'm planning on upgrading: memory 8gb, windows 8.1 pro, and geforce gtx 750 ti.

Will any of these upgrades be a problem? Installing the 750 ti, im wondering if I will end up seeing some bottleneck..

Fyi..I have not clocked my CPU at all..

Is there anything else you would recommend upgrading?

I wasn't going to upgrade my CPU because then i would have to upgrade the mobo and then I would have to upgrade the ram... Haha

you are very close to a bottle neck. but not significant with a 750ti. 8gb is fine. why win 8.1? its a PIA for gaming. stick with vista i say.

The 810 is about as bad as you can get. You can't get a better graphics card till you update it.

What does PIA stand for? Because I hate vista, its the worst and I have a copy of 8.1 from another computer, no cost to me.

8.1 can only be activated for the one PC. Not other people's.

PIA...pain in the a55. you have to go through alot of crap just to get to your games icon...at least in my experience. i dont like it

You might need to update your bios. But none of them are much better than what you've got.

That's what I thought, none of them would be significantly better, and so to make it worth upgrading the cpu I would need to upgrade my mobo...

So what would you guys do, if it was your computer and you didn't have the money to upgrade everything? Would you upgrade to 8gb ram for $90 and gtx 750ti for $130? Or would you not do any upgrade until you had the money to upgrade everything, which probably won't be for year... Thanks for you replys

I'd save till I could upgrade the CPU and Mobo to something that will last a while eg Z97 and i5.

I'd upgrade that GPU now even though it would bottleneck. You can always carry over the new GPU

The Geforce 8xxx series is WAYY past its prime

Well...hmmm Im on the fence about this one... See I ordered this lenovo on black friday for $770 tax included, thinking my computer as discribed above was really noise and bla bla bla, but I just made it quiet... do you think this is a good deal from lenovo, I will be putting in the gtx 750ti if I keep it. Except you will likely need a better GPU if you want to play decent games.

I am puzzled why OEMs keep using I7s instead of the cheaper but nearly
equal I5s

Its an unbalanced build - an i7 with 16gb ram and only a gtx750ti.

You should have a good quality 500W PSU and put a gtx970 in there.
