Is the Asus H-97 Pro a good motherboard for a Gigabyte GTX 970 and an i7-4790? Will there be performance issue? Can it handle both?

Solution

Yes it will. That CPU cannot be overclocked so there is no reason why a 'Z' Board would make a difference at all. You by no means in the wrong with going H97. The Z97 chipset would only have been a good idea if you were going to SLI with another GTX 970 later on, apart from that there is no reason for getting a Z97 board. That H97 board will support and configure SLI but it does not do it well, it does it in X16/X4 mode which bottlenecks the second card to the extend it clearly isn't worth it. X16/X8 is what you want for SLI.

I know you won't have any issues, all...

That's great to hear! But the performance difference wouldn't be noticeable would it? I mean It would still play most or all games in ultra right?

"yes you can coz u have a reaaaaaly good graphics card."

Not all games are just graphics card dependent, the CPU/Ram is a factor also. The CPU is perfectly fine, but ram were in the blank as it isn't listed.

Thank you so much for the comforting information and insight :) And I've got 16Gigs of Ram, and no, I don't plan to sli or overclock!

He has already bought the mobo, and the cpu will work OK in it that's what I wrote.
I have also written that its not the best of board.

if ur writing to get only solution count rather than providing actual solution then its ok.

Excuse me, what does "no, donot worry if u have already purchased it then its absolutely fine its just that ur cpu might not perform the fullest." say? As far as the thread goes, the contribution you have made is rather minimal.

"if ur writing to get only solution count rather than providing actual solution then its ok."
What have I written that's not an "actual solution"?

I am not writing for the solution I am writing so his issue is solved, and everyone else can see that it is 'solved'. What is exactly wrong with the H97-PRO? As far as motherboards go there is nothing wrong with that one.

I am guiding myself according to the guidelines.
