Okay, so I recently ordered a new SSD, it should be here tomorrow, its 240gb. Now i have already built my computer a year or two ago, so my 1tb hdd, is getting pretty close to capping out ( Why I bought the SSD ). Now I'm wondering if I can just use my Win8 disc to install windows on the new SSD, while keeping all of my personal files on my current hdd, so I don't have to reinstall all of the games I've downloaded. I've though about maybe just taking the games and putting them on an external HDD, and then putting them back on the HDD after wiping it, so its, in a way fresh, would any of these be possibly?

P.s. sorry for typos, I'm on mobile.

For steam games, they can be easily moved around. For other like Uplay and Origin, you will most likely need to reinstall them. I haven't had any success in moving them around easily.
If you bought Window 8 then yes you can reuse the licence.
I would move anything you want off to an external HDD. Format the old HDD then put back the files you had.
When installing window make sure the SSD is the only storage device plugged in.

So to move the Steam games, I'd just drag the main steam folder onto the external HDD, and then after formatting drag it back into the c:/ or will that no longer be there? ( I apologize for not knowing much about dual storage )

Edit : Also, would I need to enable Raid 1 or something to use my SSD as a sort of secondary storage device, rather than just strictly for the OS?

In the BIOS, set to ACHI mode. RAID is something different.
Yes moving the main steam folder is fine. I just done it last week as I swapped my 500GB to a 1TB.
