I recently upgraded my processor to a 4790k. I know you have to update the bios and chipset drivers to the latest versions in order for it to function properly. My question is if for some reason I need to do a clean reinstall of my OS will it wipe the chipset driver and cause my system to not boot with that processor in there?

The Bios driver is independent of the "OS" drivers.
You will reinstall the OS, and re-install all the drivers (not including the bios update).
As long as the BIOS is updated, you should not have any problem to reinstall your OS with the new CPU.

But if it removes the chipset drivers will that not effect the new cpu? I'd heard you need the newest chipset driver as well but I already had it installed so I'm not sure if that affects the compatibility with the new cpu or not.
