Hello,

Firstly I'm not an expert in the computer field, therefore this topic.
I put together my new computer yesterday. At some point I had everything running, installed windows, and installed all drivers as well. I started playing League of Legends, and half way the computer shut down and gave the: "Power supply surges detected During the previous power on asus anti-surge was triggered" error. It kept doing this, at some point even when I was just browsing in chrome.

I looked this up in numerous threads, and it could be that the anti surge option of the motherboard was too sensitive. I disabled it at the BIOS, and exited. Windows told me that the system needed a reboot, so I did. However, at this point the computer shut down to restart, but it stopped responding. I saw the fans moving for 1 sec and that was it.

Now it won't even start at all. I checked all connections, and they should be ok. The power LED on my motherboard is on when connected to the power. Im just wondering what I should do now and if somebody has experience with this issue.

PC Specs (All new):
- Corsair Case Graphite 230T Black
- Asus Z97-c
- Seasonic G-serie 650W
- Intel Core i5 4690
- Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
- Crucial DDR3 Ballistix Tactical LP 2x8GB 1600 C8
- MSI GeForce GTX 970 Gaming
- Samsung 840 EVO 250 GB
- Seagate 7200 14 ST2000DM001 2TB
- LG DVD+/-R/RW GH24NSB0, AUAA11B S-ATA black OEM

Thanks in advance for answering

It sounds like you set something wrong in the bios. To get it back working it should be as simple as removing the watch battery from your motherboard for 60 seconds (yes, I know, it's forever!) and put it back in. Then your bios will be set to default and the computer should boot. Maybe even your problem you had before will go away.

Note: Every time you mess with a setting in bios and then cannot boot, remove the battery. It is what keeps the current bios settings. Removing the battery will flash it to default and allow you to boot like you just bought it.

I tried this, first taking the battery out for just 60 seconds, then 10-15 minutes (maybe it it wasn't fully discharged). However, when I tried turning the pc on, the only thing that happened was the LED of one of the front fans turning on and off. The Power LED on the motherboard is still on though.

Ok everything is disconnected, but the mobo, cpu + fan and PSU. It starts up now. I assume I have to gradually add one component at a time to see what's wrong?

Or should I change something in the BIOS first?

You are right. One thing at a time. Find the one thing that stops it from booting. It may be a bios setting but chances are against you. The part is probably burnt out from the power surge. Maybe not though and everything will oddly work when you plug it back in.
Good luck

Firstly I put in the graphics card, and it stopped working.. I even changed the cables to the PSU, because the initial cables were quite bent, but this didnt help either. I also tried my old graphics card and it did work with the same cables. So I can probably conclude I have a big problem, with my brand new GPU...

Hmm, not sure if the problem is the graphics card, but the power supplied to it. Does the old graphics card require 2 PCI-e connectors like the 970 does? And if so are they a 6 pin and an 8 pin just like the 970? It seems odd that one will work and the other will not. MSI has good quality control and should not have let a bad gpu out the door. I would triple check power connections.

The old gpu has two 6 pin connectors and the msi has one 6+2 and a 6 pin connector. Everything was connected well. I also used a different set of cables to check with both gpus.

It might after all be the psu that doesnt work properly. I hooked up everything else to see if it would turn on (It still works only with CPU/PSU/Mobo)(also with old gpu) But it stopped working when I hooked up SSD/HDD/chassis fans/USB3 (It started turning on and off and kept repeating that)

I checked everything today again, and there were two problems. There was one faulty DDR stick, and the GPU 8 pin connector (receiver) did not work. So I contacted my supplier and waiting for their reply to be able to send it back.

Thanks for all the help guys! And I hope I will receive some new parts soon, so I can start using my pc properly
