How To Replace OS SSD Without Reinstalling Everything?

Hi,
I currently have a 120gb SSD with Windows 7 installed on it as well as many other programs / games. Since the space available on this SSD is very limited I also had to install numerous other programs on some other HDD drives / partitions.

I just received a Crucial MX100 512GB SSD as a gift and i'd like to install it and use it as my main OS drive however, the thought of having to re-install the OS as well as tons of programs and re-configuring everything to get to where I am now is just extremely daunting, i'd basically have to take a least a whole day off just to do this.

Is there a way to simply clone my current SSD into the new SSD and that everything will work? I think this is possible, but are all the programs going to work, the ones that are installed on the SSD as well as those that are linked from it on the other drives...?

I notice that the Crucial MX100 comes with Acronis True Image HD 2014, would this software allow me to do what I want?

Thanks!

i'd use EaseUS ToDO Backup - it's free and works much simpler, and it has the selection to optimize for SSD when cloning

i've used acronis and it failed me twice, ie the backups were corrupted, plus acronis seems to only do (or used to) do sector by sector backups which with acronis on my system took forever. Same with Intel's backup utility. EaseUS ToDo i've had to fall back on the backup or cloned copy about 6 times in 4 years and it's never failed me, plus i've only used the simple clone choice - on a dual core pentium it took 1.5 hours to 1.75 hours to do a complete clone of 166 GBs. If i did a sector by sector in EaseUS, it took 3 hours, which was still better than acronis

EaseUS Todo backup has a free version on their web, and...

The bundled software is designed to clone your current operating drive. But you can do it through windows too. Either way, rest easy.

I'm in exactly the same position, same SSD and a 128gb ssd that will be cloned when I can be bothered.

thanks guys. I am currently using acronis to clone my old disk. However I am not sure about something...

I saw this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oZwa6RDABk
at ~6min they say that i have to shut down my computer and disconnect the old drive before booting because booting the computer with a cloned disk could result in issues...

So... I am wondering 2 things...
1. Do I need to remove the old disk and place the new one in it's place (connect it to the same sata cable the old disk was connected to?) or do i just disconnect the old drive and leave the new drive where it is?
2. They say i must not boot with the old disk connected, but.. i'd still like to use that old disk... how can i do this if i cannot connect it?... After I test the new drive and make sure everything works fine i'd like to format the old drive and use it... but to format it, I must first connect/boot with it...

Thx

EaseUS Todo backup has a free version on their web, and there are no hidden malwares that download with it - try it one time after you've used acronis and you'll like it a whole lot better than acronis or intel's utility.

AS AN update, since this post i've built a new computer and installed a 2 bay hot swap 2.5" drive unit ( http://www.amazon.com/KingWin-2-5-Inch-Internal-Tray-Less-KF-251-BK/dp/B00475DQ6Y/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1427494839&sr=8-3-fkmr0&keywords=2.5%22+xantrex+hot+swap+drive+bay ) and using EaseUS ToDo Backup to do a backup from my OS SSD to a 2nd SSD, sector by sector backup of (approx 156 GB) takes 19-23 minutes (backup SSD is sata III connection),
doing a simple "optimized for SSD" but not sector by sector takes 11-12 minutes. Just cloning the C drive, sector by sector runs 14-17 minutes
