More often than not, i am able to figure a way around most technical issues that crop up. This time, however, i am 36 hours in to my new Intel SSD (http://bit.ly/12nMICr) and so far i have performed the following actions on it. (Btw, i will continue to enlist my old HDD for game storage, etc.)

1) Installed Windows 7 from install disc and used activation key; everything good so far.

2) Installed some basic programs and anti-virus software that i want on my SSD.

3) [this is where the fun begins] Turned off comp and mounted old HDD so i could transfer all my steam games from backup external drive. Upon rebooting, i received a black screen with the error message as shown in title.

4) However, i can boot fine to my SSD if and only if I select 'Boot Manager' under my bios boot options.

TL : DR What do i need to switch around in Bios (assuming thats where the problem lies) so i do not have to [F12 -> Boot Manager] every time i restart?

Thanks! Let me know what other information i can provide.

Hi, thanks for replying so fast!

I did update the BiOS yesterday when i was installing the rest of the motherboard drivers/utilities.

IIRC, that was about the same time i started to have boot issues.

Do you know how to reset the BiOS safely, then i'll know if that was the problem? Or is that what you mean by flashing BiOS?

I have tried just about every combination of boot orders that i could think of, with the same results.

In the pursuit of eliminating as many variables as possible, i unplugged all SATA devices (even the optical drive) from my mobo and tried the SSD by itself. I have the drive hooked into SATA3 '0' port marked by red circle. I assume that means it will boot first.

Photo for reference: Obviously, with so few options, i have the drive 1st in boot order as you can see below.

Booting with only this device hooked in yields the same result.

The only solution i have found is booting through Windows Boot Manager and not my SSD. Cant figure out why this is, though.
