Issues with Laptop, not recognizing GPU, Catalyst Control Center not working, "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter"

We got this laptop for my little brother a few days ago. First thing I did for him was install antivirus and get him all up to date in Windows Update. Then bizarre crap started happening when I installed the GPU drivers. It's got a Radeon 8750M and Intel HD Graphics 4600. It was working fine a few days ago, but when he tried playing League of Legends it was very flickery and annoying. So I tried reinstalling the drivers.

IDK what happened, but now nothing is working right. In Device Manager it supposedly recognizes the "AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M" but it's got a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. there's also a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". When I right click the desktop, I see "AMD Catalyst Control Center" but not the switchable graphics options. There's no option for switchable graphics in the Catalyst Control Center either.

I've used AMD's "clean-up" tool and tried reinstalling several drivers (ones by HP and ones by AMD). Nothing is working. I do not know what to do. When I use the clean-up tool as well, the mouse and USB ports stop working so I install the HP USB drivers.

I've uninstalled drivers ,reinstalled them, updated the BIOS and everything else in windows but to no avail.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have not encountered such a stubborn computer issue.

UPDATE: Found some new driver updates on Windows Update for the Intel and Radeon . . . not sure what it was, but now at least the two devices are recognized in Device Manager, and without the yellow exclamation point things. However, when I try to open up catalyst it says "AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center." And Switchable Graphics options is not appearing either when I right click on the desktop.

Do you have a lot of important things on that laptop? could always back up stuff and hit the reformat. Try that, and if you ever update drivers, do you use the AMD official ones or the ones only from HP? A lot of laptops seem to have trouble if you use newer AMD drivers instead of the ones specifically from HP (myself included but on an older laptop)
