How to tell if my GPU is compatible with my MOBO

Hi, i'm playing on building my first PC and was wondering how I would know if the R9 280X is compatible with the MOBO GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P here are the links to both:

It's compatible.

As long as the motherboard has at least a PCIe 2.0 x16 lane (which it does) you will be fine.

A modern gpu is a peripheral device that uses an interconnect called pci-e (periipheral component interconnect express). If your motherboard specs contain a reference to having one or more PCI Express "slots", then your gpu will work.

All modern boards and gpus are PCI-E.
