So here's what I'm running:
ASRock Z97 EXTREME6 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor
Corsair Builder 600W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card

So, the story: got everything hooked up, powered on, and yay! It booted! But it wouldn't let me access the BIOS, I just kept getting an error about "Reboot and select boot disk", or something to that effect. Read on the forums to try removing the CMOS battery, so I did that. Tried booting again and that did the trick, I got into BIOS. I have an SSD hooked up but I'm going to be installing Windows 8 from USB - so while I was in the BIOS, I went to select USB as the Boot Disk #1, and it doesn't show up. Only the SSD. I thought I'd try rebooting it. Now when I turn it on, though, I just keep getting error A2 on my motherboard.

Please help, I'm really at a loss here. I tried unplugging the SSD and then I got error 99. So I'm stuck in a cycle of errors. I did try removing the CMOS battery one more time but that didn't do anything.

Any suggestions would be great, thank you!

have you tried powering the pc on with the usb stick already inserted?

However, you shouldn't get that kind of error messages. the pc should boot up with just the cpu and the ram.. try to reseat the components and install windows using the i5 igpu, don't use the 980 just yet. see if that helps...

Hi, thanks for the help! I took your advice and removed the 980 for now, and am just trying the Intel igpu. It worked, I can get into the BIOS now! But when I go into the Boot options, I can only see my SSD, the USB drive isn't an option. Do I have to boot it with the USB stick in? Is that the problem?

Yes, you should insert the usb drive before entering the bios utility. it's not plug n play.
btw, sorry for the late answer
