Will the old Hard Drive external case work alright for a 3TB hard drive?

Hi all. I had bought a 1TB external 3.5" WD hard drive in 2008. Today I had to put the 1TB hard drive in my desktop. Now I want to buy a 3TB hard drive but I'm unsure whether the 3TB hard drive is gonna work well with the good old external case. Can someone tell me please?

First I'd advise you that you delete the serial number for security reasons even though the warranty has already expired. And about the enclosure, at first I did not realize that you were talking about using the external enclosure of the WD Elements. I wouldn't recommend that you try an HDD larger than 1.5TB with it. This model had capacity up to 1.5TB and using a larger one might result in less storage space shown when the drive is connected due to limitations.
Hey vinvictor7. That depends. Most of the hard drive external enclosures will probably support up to 3TB, but having in mind this is "an old enclosure", to be sure you'll have to check this with the enclosure's specs to see what its limitations are.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah I know that posting serial numbers is not a wise thing to do but the hard drive has been out of warranty for 3 or 4 years anyway.
Thanks for your answers. :) I'll have to test the case's capacity.
