I wonder if anyone can help...

PROBLEM

The problem first started when one day I turned on my computer to find that the mouse and keyboard did not work (they were plugged ion to the USB 3.0 ports at the back of my computer).

I unplugged the mouse and keyboard, and plugged it in to the only USB 2.0 ports.

I updated the USB 3 driver with the latest driver. How ever I still had two 'Unknown Device' objects appearing under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. This was despite All the Renesas controllers being installed.

I began to think it was a hardware issue! My computer would recognise the USB ports in the Device Manager, the computer would not recognise anything I would plug in.

FAILED SOLUTIONS

After updating the drivers, restarting and seeing no results, I decided to format my hard drive.

Result: The USB 3.0 started working again! But, only for a brief time. After around 3 months, the problem started again.

After a further two reformattings (I'm inventing new words, here!), I decided to wipe the data completely, using Secure Erase.

The problem was solved! Until today.....

Upon switching on my computer, I have the same problem.

I looked for all the latest drivers, and installed them. The installation went great, but plugging my printer, headphones, or webcam? No joy.........

Can anyone help please?
