My friends case has 7 fans and they all use 3 pin connections, but power supply and MOBO have nothing to help...

Solution
What its the model of the Asus MOBO? is it Z97-A, Z97-pro, or Maximus edition boards? The motherboard should have a bunch of 4-pin fan connectors, you can connect the 3-pin fans to the 4-pin fan ports. the fourth pin is just to control the fan speeds. if you just use 3 pin fans on mobo, the fans are gonna run at its full speed. oh and if they the motherboard does not have enough fan ports. It would be a good idea to invest in an external fan controller. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=fan+controller&N=-1&isNodeId=1

I use this one http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811997019
