Hi! I hope it's not too late. I came across the same predicament, since I own the same PC. Unfortunately, answers are very mixed and no one has really confirmed that they have done it.

So I decided to take the plunge, and got myself a Nvidia GeForce GTX 750Ti on December and plugged it into my Envy 700-074. I have to say, it works like a charm! Running games like Skyrim at Ultra, solid 60fps at 1920x1080 (I can push it to 2715x1527 according to the Nvidia game optimizer panel).

Even better. Further searches regarding this GPU advice that one of the best CPU matches is the Intel i5 4430 3.0Ghz, which is the one we have in our Envy. So don't worry about bottle-necking.

So give it a go, if you haven't still!

Word of advice. You might have to disable the integrated Intel HD Graphics chip from the Bios. It will give you better results. If you're not sure, have the people from the store install it. Takes about five minutes.
