By memory, floppy drives aren't even IDE.
I'd suggest just getting a USB floppy drive. I don't know that there are any SATA adapters.

Floppy drives had their own interface that plugged directly into the motherboard, so an adapter is not going to work. Also, be aware that the discs do not survive for the eons, so if it is more than few years old, I would not count on reading the disk.

Hi, from memory, the only "floppy" drive that used IDE / ATA interface was the LS120. All other "normal" FDD are connected by a FDD connector.
If that is the case, you must make sure that your bios suports booting from an LS120 drive and to recognize it as such so it will be assigned A: and not C:
