Hello there, currently i own a evga gtx 660, and i recently ordered a new mobo/cpu. The mobo i a z97 anniversary edition( if youneed to know exactly ill give it to you) and the cpu is a i7-4790K. What videocard do you recommend me to get? I was thinking of a gtx 970, or perhaps a r9 290. My budget is around 420 canadian dollars.

If you can afford the extra cost of the Gigabyte Gaming edition, it's very good.
Ive heard of problems with the Asus strix ones but Im not sure if they've fixed that or not.

Either way any of the 970's are pretty good. I would recommend MSI and Gigabyte and EVGA.
All the 970's also come with a backplate on the top of the card except EVGA.

So at this point just choose the one that looks the coolest to you or is the cheapest ;)

Well I would recommend the gtx 970. It uses less power than the r9 290 and can even beat it in some games and benchmarks.

Although where I am it is actually more expensive but also a much nicer card. So I recommend the GTX 970, which is the current best bang for your buck gpu and will handle all games at 1080p gaming easily.

-good luck
