My cousin bought a new computer set it up plugged in hdmi and the sound was working with his headset and microphone was working also then he reset it the next day now it is not being detected at all and and the 3.5mm jacks dont work so he swapped to VGA cable then they started working again, after that now this morning they stopped working again with either hdmi or vga, and no amount of driver updates or reinstalls are fixing them and they dont show up in playback devices and the only way he gets sound to his headset is in the back of his monitor, and we have no clue how to fix it, its a Hp Pheonix pc, i5 processor, gpu nvidia gtx 750, windows 8.1

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BEFORE I RIP OUT MY EYEBALLS, :( i cant find anything to help him been searching for over 6 hours and no luck

First thing's first: VGA does not carry audio, it's pure video. Perhaps you did not install the correct drivers? because this sounds a whole lot like drivers...you reset the computer and now audio is messed up. I would get the link but HP Pheonix is not enough to find your laptop... If you tried that and it still doesn't work or if you're positive it's not drivers, try going to the search feature and looking up "Sound". press the one result saying "Sound". Now, what do you see?
