So i just recently installed my new motherboard and CPU running windows 8.1 before the install my pc would run perfectly and as I have been told its recommended to reformat along with hardware but after installing the new hardware my windows crashes and gives me the BSOD with the "WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR" can anyone give me some advice on finding a solution though may I also add i have done my research on this and have heard multiple reasons so let me tell you some more informational details. I have had an issue with my HDD where windows.exe but found it fixed itself after disconnecting and reconnecting cables. I have had the HDD for quite some time probably around 5 years now. Most of my hardware is now fairly new except the hard drive let me provide a list below of my devices so maybe it can help find the best cause of my problem:

Motherboard: Asus VII Hero (Less then a day old)
CPU: i7-4970k (Less then a day old)
Cooler: Stocked cooler provided with the i7-4790k
GPU: Nvidia geforce gtx 660 ti (about less then 2 years old)
RAM: Corsair Veg. 16GBs @ 1600 (about less then 2 years old)
PSU: Corsair GS series 700W (about less then 2 years old)
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 750GBs (had it since 2009/2010)

Leaving the motherboard with its default settings and attempting to reformat i am now stuck without an OS as its impossible for me to complete a reformat due the this error/BSOD, can anyone help me find my problem?

Oh right forgive me i forgot to mention also was attempting to reformat my HDD completely as it was recommended so now im currently stuck without a Windows OS is it possible to still update the BIOS by downloading it to a flash and doing it from the BIOS menu? I will also add this to the description in the main post

Thats how you should do it extract the update chuck it on a flash drive.

Make sure the flash drive has been formatted in FAT32

Go into the BIOS select ez flash. Point it to the update flash it. Wait for it to finish

You shouldnt update it in windows, on some systems it can and will freeze, (most people turn the system off / press reset, thinking it has frozen), and you guessed it, this will brick your system

But lucky for you your mobo supports USB BIOS flashback

Update: Installing the latest BIOS on my ASUS VII Hero worked wonders, now I was able to install Windows 8.1 64-bit again thanks Paul and Jameson. I have one more left answer and I'll probably post this later in its own thread if i have no solution. I had trouble installing the OS when it keep getting the BSOD so reformatting left me with 2 partitions of Windows in my HDD how would I get rid of the one I am not using?
