hi, i have done tests and all my parts seem to be scoring as they should but i have been experiencing fps problems in far cry 3 metro last light and battlefield 4 where i am getting 40 fps at time on low with no aaa.

i think my problem could be my psu as it is a no-name brand that came with lots of broken pins and may not be giving the right amount of power but no-one seems to have an answer

my build
gigabyte windforce r9 280x oc
fx 6300
8gb ram
really bad psu

Isn't a faulty PSU more likely to cause a freeze or a computer reset rather than just messing up the frame rates? Perhaps it is your CPU that prevents your GPU from reaching its full potential

Assuming you haven't messed around with undervolting the CPU or anything like that? Do you have a lot of processes running while you game? Have you got any other PSU's to test with?

Might be worth a shot to download HW Monitor and see how your temperatures behave when you play demanding games.

I think it would be worthwhile to upgrade the PSU regardless of whether that is what's causing the problems or not, I wouldn't trust it around valuable components.

my current max gpu temp is 60 Celsius which is 140 fahrenheit but for the second time tonight after downloading the new drivers i got this warning

directX function "getdeviceremovedreason" failed with DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG ("the device is hung which typically caused by issues in the graphics drivers or alternatively the application"). GPU: "AMD Radeon R9 200 series", Driver 14.9

do you know what i should do?

Completely uninstall all software from ATI from your computer, delete all ATI related folders after uninstalling, try again with a different driver (ensure you originally installed the correct one, if it was then try the second newest driver instead.

Might also be worth while to make a new forum post focused on that error message if the driver reinstall doesn't do the trick.
