I am buying a new PC with the motherboard ASROCK 980DE/U3S3 and graphics card gtx 760.

It has the following PCI slots :

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16, 3 x PCIe 2.0 x1
4 x USB 3.0, 2 x SATA2

I also have an old 8800GT graphics card which i do not wish to throw it away. I was thinking if i can insert it in a PCIe 2.0 x1 slot (by cutting some of the pins ? ) and use it for PhysX computations or anything else . Does anyone know if its even possible to do that ? Does it require and SLI cable for this ?

Probably, then saw the GT at the end and I was like... that can't be right...

Anyway, ok, I guess it is possible to cut a card like that.

1. You can't SLI two different nVidia Cards together
2. PCB is not that soft, it's very difficulty, if not impossible, to cut a pcb like that.

If you want to use 8800 for PhysX, it has to go into a proper x16 slot

EDIT: for some hilarious reason I thought 8800GT is an AMD card...
