I was not able to find a real answer for my problem so hopefully i word it correctly. So I reformatted so i could enable AHCI mode and add a new SSD. Here is my issue I plugged only my 64GB crucial M4 ssd and sata DVD rom, switched to AHCI mode in bios boom bios loads AHCI modes and proceed to install windows 7. So now I add my new Crucial M500 240gb and now the computer hangs at loading os screen and goes no further. But if I put the M500 in slots 4-5 in IDE mode computer starts no problem boots into windows. I see there are marvel controller drivers for my Mobo (Gigabyte 990fx ud3 rev 1.1) but when I download then they are not .exe, they are boot drivers so do I need these drivers? can I install them after I have already reformatted.

Don't use the Marvell controller, performance sucks compared to the native controller.

If you do us ethem, you have to have them on a pen drive and load them at the screen where you select what disk to install too ( old XP F6 way ).

Not a big fan of Crucial SSD's !

That doesn't really solve my problem, the first crucial drive works fine in AHCI mode as does the Phillips DVD R , 1TB seagate, 250gb seagate. But this drive will not boot in AHCI mode I have emailed crucial no answer back yet. Works in IDE mode but i only get 312/215 MB/s. About half its rated speed
