Hi everyone, I recently ordered and assembled a new PC. Every thing seemed to be going fine up until I decided to boot it up. The Gigabyte load screen came up and I pressed the delete button to start the BIOS up. Everything in the BIOS came up just fine and I proceeded to change the boot order to DVD drive first and my 1TB hard drive second. I then proceeded to save and exit the BIOS to start loading Windows 8. My DVD drive sounded like it was working on the process of getting things started and then a message popped up on my screen: Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I don't know exactly what's going on here or what normally leads to this and thought about you guys since your conversation threads have helped me in the past. Like I said, this is my first build and when it comes to building the PC I relied quite a bit on the manuals and some online guides. Also I had a friend test my DVD and hard drive already and they were both functioning fine.

P.S. I also have to thank you guys for the advice to just go ahead and build my own PC, it was great and I've learned so much more than I knew before through this process already. I am however looking to learn so much more. :)

Thanks for the response, what's the difference between corrupt and not bootable? Also, my wife has a laptop with a DVD drive that she's used for quite some time, would it be possible to see if the DVD is good with that?
