Update: I have brought things back down near stock values and will tread more carefully.~ I don't believe 80+ Voltage Regulators should run that hot~ I have no idea what the problem could be and am still in the dark. It looks like I won't be able to push 4.4GHZ on this mobo.

Ultimate Question: Should I Be Concerned? (any game pushes this thing to 73-78c)

Okay so everything seems to be running fine at 4.4GHZ (Testing purposes) to check and see how far things can be pushed. My temperatures seemed all but fine and normal under 55c (Northbridge runs about 7c hotter on this mobo) Except for this.....thing? I don't know what to call it: IRF IR3564B on HWINFO sensors:

It hit a what id like to call dangerous Celsius levels and only noticed it after core #6 temporarily died and PRIME95 started to run at a max 88% usage instead of the expected 100% to which I thought the core died. (It went back to normal) after an in the moment emergency PRIME95 shutdown.

It's currently idling at 59c and my questions are is this normal? what does it mean? Do I need a fan aimed at something or better ambient temperatures. I just have no clue what I'm looking at.... and cant find any information on it~ and all I know is it shut down one of my cores on full load within the first 30-seconds of PRIME95.

As you can see in the picture below my "Voltage Regulator" is running at a high [87c] while PRIME95 is running things at max. It began shutting down my FX-8350 cores to cool them down. (AKA.-Extreme Throttling) 4.4GHZ to 1.4GHZ)

CPU: FX-8350
GPU: 7870: PowerCooler 7870-Tahiti Le MYST Edition

Cooling: Hyper-212~

I came here because I have the exact same issue, using the same motherboard, cpu and cpu cooler.

I personally stopped all tests when it started getting over 75 celcius so I don't know about the crashing issue you got. But, right after reading this post, I did some research and found this post on the HardwareCanucks forums:

http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/overclocking-tweaking-benchmarking/28413-temperature-voltage-regulators-mosfets.html

If you go down at one of the last posts, someone said that those things are at acceptable temps even if it's around 100celcius. But this guy is banned from the forums for some reasons that I don't know about so I really hope someone will answer this post to make sure those temps are right...

How hot is too hot for a CPU voltage regulator? Example: I'm told anything beyond 62c for the CPU temps is not great

Is the temperature in the picture above for this CPU voltage regulator thing normal? It shut down core #6 at 87c~ or maybe it was something else.

So perhaps this thing is suppose to run hot and average around 110 since it draws in the voltages or something.~ Does anyone else get a reading like this?~

and..... should I be concerned? Need more info

My CPU temps are fantastic because of the 212 and lowered my temps cores by a whopping 22+c!~ but I'm facing a Voltage Regulator problem it would seem (Only when attempting an overclock and PRIME95 maxes everything out).... If anyone can weigh in here that would be great. Does anyone else with a overclocked GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX face these same temps on VR or is it just me?

When hitting [87c] voltage regulator my FX-8350 cores begin to shutdown and extreme throttling begins - What could be the problem? Is my motherboard not up to the task of hitting 4.4GHZ? cooling issue?~ We're talking only 1-minute of running PRIME-95 Here~

Tomshardware! ##HELP! if I hit [87c] should I worry of damage onboard?

Also, I just want to point out that some time ago I was stress-testing using CPUID HWMonitor for the temps instead of HWiNFO64 and even if CPUID wasn't telling me the VR temps, after maybe 40min of running Prime95, everything was running fine even if the VR temps was obviously going up even if I couldn't see it.

In my opinion the VR temps shouldn't be an issue since it's basically just some little capacitors or some circuit parts of this category.

I hope this help even if there haven't been any answer since December 5.... I just hope some people with more experience than me could answer to say if there is anything to worry about.

ps.: My CPU runs at the stock 4.0Ghz so I'm not sure about if your problems are caused by the overclock.
