Hey community,

Question is simple, i'm looking for a good mobo for overclocking my new Mini-ITX build.
I already decided i want to go with a Z97 board but i realy can't decide wich one in specific i want to go with.
I'm far from an expert on mobos and very new to overclocking so i do want some help with selecting a good and reliable board with a managable BIOS.
That last point because i'm fairly new to overclocking so don't expect me to go fiddle around with individual timings and such.
I'm happy when i can raise the voltage and mhz without my rig bursting into flames.

This is the website where i usualy buy my stuff so you can see what i have available.
https://www.cdromland.nl/nav/892/Intel-Socket-1150
(I can't order anything from the US or overseas general because our taxation over here in Belgium went totally nuts and asks insane tax rates on any slightly expensive goods that are imported)

Here is my rig btw:
CPU: i5-4690K watercooled
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 (haven't decided yet on a specific one)
PSU: Corsair RM650
RAM: 16GB of 2133 Mhz RAM, prolly going with Corsair Vengeance since i have good experiences with those.
Case is going to be a Corsair 380T, but with a 200mm fan infront pulling air in (not the stock 140mm) and a 120mm at the back for exhaust.
So it has fairly decent airflow for a Mini-ITX case and there's a constant "breeze" over the the Mobo.
And a 240mm radiator at the side for the CPU cooling.

Also, could somebody explain to me what makes the Asus Maximus VII so special?
I mean, i know it"s good but i want to know what exactly it has over the others and if it's useful to me.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the wall-o-txt.

The Impact has better power delivery than most other itx boards for better overclocking stability, better sound processing, and a lot of ROG specific features which I can't list off the top of my head. If you look at the website most of the features should be listed.

Thanks for the fast reply,
I already figured the Maximus was the best (cause of it's pricetag :D ).
But could you maybe give a bit more insight on why it's the best?
As in, wich features does it have that others lack and do i, as a very basic overclocker, need those?
I'm not realy on a tight budget but i don't want to be spending 70 bucks on extras i might not need (or be able to take full use of).

Well, since you all seem so convinced that the Asus impact is worth it i think i'll just slip out the extra bucks for it.
I do have had only good experiences with ASUS motherboards, just not RoG ones yet.

As an extra question, could you give me an idea just how much i could squeeze out of the i5-4690K with that Mobo and a H100i watercooler?
Just to give me an idea what to aim for while still keeping it stable.

Well, i'm off to an adventure then! ;)

Thx for the help, i just watched a few vids on Youtube about this board and now i'm all hyped!
(I actually didn't consider going for a RoG, i just figure i ask about it since it fitted the topic, hence why i didn't do much research on it)

Thx for the help guys, i'm off to go get me one of those and then either OC like a baws or live under a bridge cause i burned my house down, either one will be epic!

I keep seeing the Asus RoG board pop up in my hunt for a Mini ITX overclocking board but are there any others that would suffice in more of a budget build? I'm looking at doing an OC'd Pentium G3258. Don't care so much about audio or the better NIC for gaming, etc., etc. I do like seeing the M.2 support but it won't be used initially. Just decent overclocking and wifi/BT included. The VII looks great but at $225 mobo for a $60 CPU seems...unwise?
