Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade the memory from 4 gb to 16 gb but I'm having a problem. When I put in the new 2 x 4gb memory chips and boot up the computer all I get is beep beep beep beep beep etc, then the computer shuts down. My mother board is a Gigabyte Ga-ep45t-ud3lr and the memory that came with the computer is 2x4gb DDR3/ 1600mhz. The memory I'm trying to install is Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9b Memory DDR3 2X240DIMM Vengeance.

Memory Size
8GB (2 x 4GB)

Type of Memory
DDR3

Speed
1600MHz

Pin Configuration
240-pin DIMM

I researched the mother board and found that it will handle 16gb of memory. My computer was built by cyber power. I contacted the tech support and was told my mother board can only support 4gb of memory to each slot. I have tried to install 4gb in each slot, 4 slots, but I still get the beeps, then shut down. It should not be this difficult to install memory in a computer. I am by no means a computer genius so any help you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Solution
What CPU and what is the FSB at? To run at 1600 need the FSB at least that high,m and to boot the sticks up prob need a minimum of a 1333 FSB - also will prob need to raise the DRAM and NB voltages

Yes, I have tried booting the computer with all four slots of new ram, just beeps and shut down. I have also tried booting the computer with just one stick of new ram, but it just beeps and shuts down. I can take the new ram out, put the old back in, and the computer boots up fine.

It could be the Motherboard. Cyberpower (or any of its affliates like Ibuypower and Cybertron) is known to use EXTREMELY cheap components in slick, plasticky cases charging suspecting PC gamers for crap with a capital C! Trust me, I knew someone that had a CP desktop with a MB that only had DDR3 204 pin slots! And he was dumb enough to try to get his 240pin sticks to fit by cutting a sliver of the stick equaling to 204 pin.... and kept beeping until he blew it up with som fireworks.
