i am building a gaming computer with a budget of around $1200. Going with an i-7 4790k cpu. I had everything picked out to buy and was simply waiting until cyber Monday thinking i would get a better deal. Well to my horror when i logged on to pcpartpicker Monday afternoon expecting to see my build to be cheaper it had in fact jumped $200 from Black Friday price of $1265 to $1475. I can't afford to spend that much so unfortunately I am going to to have to cut stuff down. I figured I could do that maybe on the mother board but motherboards blow my mind I just do not understand all the jargon on them so that brings me here.

My original mother board I selected was the MSI Z97 gaming 7 priced at around $175. Can I skimp on mother board and go with say an asrock exteme 4? I know nothing about mother boards...I feel like maybe the nicer board has a bunch of things I don't need but that's why I am asking. I am a gamer it's all I use it for ...I don't need the sli or crossfire I am going with a single gtx 970 card (may end up having to cut back on that too but I hope not). Id appreciate any info u can provide and or suggestions u can make thanks!

I appreciate any help you knowledgable folks can provide me about how big a difference the two cards would be if it would matter much and finally if u have other suggest of optional boards Id appreciate anything u can tell me thanks a lot!
