Is this true about GTX 980 Power consumption?

So I posted on reddit if my Corsair CX500 (500 watts) was enough for a GTX 980, and several people told me it wasn't and a lot said it was enough.

I'm running a locked i5 4670, 8gigz of ram, z87-g41, and just a mid range CPU cooler and just a DVD drive.

This is what I'm wondering if it's true or not:

"You should have plenty of headroom. A stock GTX 980 won't pull more than 170W worst case scenario. A stock i5 4670 won't pull more than 90w worst case scenario. Figure in the rest of your components, you're probably looking at 350W power draw at worst, and that's assuming everything is running full tilt.
HardOCP's review of a reference GTX 980 on a 4.8GHz 3770k shows that the peak power consumption of the entire system was 312w. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2014/09/18/nvidia_maxwell_gpu_geforce_gtx_980_video_card_review/13#.VIJGxvL1HNt"
