A good cooler for my AMD FX-6300

I need something better than the stock cooler for overclocking, but I don't have the room in my case for a 120mm fan or it would be partially covering the 120mm exhaust fan.

Haha noo, it's just how my motherboard/CPU/etc. is laid out, a tall cooler would be in front of the exhaust fan on the back of my desktop. (And I meant the exhaust fan is 120mm)

You mean it would sit in front of it. Or am I not understanding? Maybe you could post a pic of the inside of your PC.

Sort of, yes. I'll try to take a good enough picture. I'll have it up in about 10-15 minutes or less.

I tried to get it from a couple angles so you could see it better. I don't know for sure if a 120mm would fit or not but I'm guessing no.

Good pics. There should be no problem using most after market coolers. Covering the exhaust fan isn't an issue. Why did that concern you?
The main thing you need to know, is the height you have from the CPU to the cover of the case. If the cooler is too tall, you won't be able to put the side panel back on. What case do you have?

This is the usual economy go-to cooler for overclocking: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099
It will require removing the AMD retention brackets, and hence taking the MB out of the case.
This one snaps right on the retention bracket: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103182
But they are both tall.

Thanks for these suggestions. The top right of the GPU (where the cords are plugged in) is about how high I can go to the case cover.

The air coolers only use the ~0.25W for the fan. About the same as the stock fan. The liq. coolers add a small +12V pump. No problem. But if you are that close to the PSU max now, you may have issues OC'ing the CPU. It's already a 125W processor. OC'ing it can take it up to ~145W.
1) what is the make/model of the PSU?
2) what is the make/model of your case?

1) PSU - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438012

2) Case - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353026

OK. That case is only 7.72" wide. A 120mm fan-equipped cooler would be too tall. You'd never be able to put the side panel back on the case. You are either going to have to go with a liq. cooler solution or a 92mm fan-equipped air cooler... like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103064
It too just snaps on the existing AMD retention bracket. No need to remove the MB.

I've got that same PSU sitting on my shelf waiting for a PC build. Decent for the money. The guru gives it a thumbs up: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=351
Depending on what that MSI gfx card is, you may have enough headroom left to OC with it.

Btw, nice clean looking PC inside.

Yeah I think I've decided on with the liquid cooler because of the space that will be cleared up, and the stock exhaust fan is a bit loud (I haven't even loaded my OS yet, I'm saving myself for Christmas and just messing around in bios I can already hear how loud it can get).

I'm running a single MSI R9 270x and its around 180w I think.

I think sometime after Christmas I'll get the liquid cooler, and a new 800w PSU to run everything, and still have enough watts left over to get a second 270x if I want to crossfire later.

And thanks for the compliments :p some of my friends were surprised at how clean I made it on my first ever build.

The rear fan is probably running at full RPM. Once you enter BIOS, you can turn on C&Q and have the fan run slower until temps call for more RPM.

With the 180W 270X and the 125W CPU, OC'ing too much may take the PSU to its 80% efficiency limit and beyond.

If that's the case I'll just hold off OC'ing until I get my cooler/PSU.

Thanks for your help with this man. Do you mind if I message you if I have any more questions? This is my first build after all haha
