So I just upgraded my CPU to an AMD FX 8350. after I installed it and reset my bios etc I log into WoW and it was running great for about 15min then it froze up on me. My pc was still on an d running but I could not do anything. I checked my system to find it saying that I was running 3.90 ish Gigs of my 8 RAM. Read aroundon the internet and people were saying "Mobo is dead, CPU is dead" Got scared and re installed my old 6core CPU to see if It was doing the same thing and it was also still showing 3.90 Gigs of 8 Usable...

Re-installed the 8350 and moved around the ram in all different spots to see if that would solve the problem and I found that one of the sticks was bad...So I left it out and am now currently running on only 4gig of ram and mp pc has not froze up one time...

Ultimately the question here is can one bad stick of ram really cause my PC to freeze like that?

You installed windows 32bit. You need 64bit version to read more than 4gb ram. And I don't think that this was the reason for your pc to freeze. If you have the 64bit version, try both rams each at a time. If one is not working.... well, buy new sticks.

I already had windows 64bit installed I re installed it again
before I did that I even took ram out of another PC I have and It read all 8gigs but when I installed the other ram it would only read 3.98gig
