installed new parts and now computer wont turn on.

I put in a new motherboard and cpu into my computer and now I cant get it to work. I have plugged everything in as far as I know and have no idea what could be wrong. When I try to turn it on all the lights and fans work for about half a second and then stop. Can anyone tell me whats wrong?

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-990F-UD3

CPU - AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera

Power Supply - Corsair CX series CX600

First thing to try - clear the CMOS (follow the mobo's manual on how to do this....)

i think we got a little off topic.... if i am not mistaken a hdd wont make my pc not turn on.

Theres 5 revisions 1 and 1.1 need BIOS F9, 1.2 needs FE. rev 3 needs FA which is the first BIOS so should work.

And revision 4 needs F1 which is the first BIOS. So what revision is it??

Could be a BIOS prob then. But you shouldnt put an old hdd from an old system into another system unless you format it

I was kind of thinking it might be a bad motherboard. My computer wont even stay on long enough to get to bios or do anything with my hdd.

Look on the mobo what revision is it?

The mobo may not be the prob the BIOS thats on it now has to support that CPU. If the right BIOS isnt on it, it wont do anything

Is there a sticker or something on this saying something like F9 or similar on it anywhere on the mobo?

Ok, its not a BIOS prob then its something you've missed out

So you've connected the ATX 12v the CPU fan and 24 pin?

If you've put this in the case and connected the front USB 2 ports, make sure you dont plug it into the firewire header on the mobo. I see it has this. Since firewire and USB 2 have 9 pin headers

yes i have everything connected and i plugged the 9 pin into the F USB1 slot
