I recently got my new r9 270x hawk, its a nice card, but i wanted to give it a bit of a boost to help it deal with far cry 4, trouble is i can't get a stable overclock withought raising the voltage which I also cannot do because the msi afterburner keeps reseting it when I click "apply" (I did enable unoficial overclocking)
anybody have any ideas?

Solution
Try other GPU softwares, like EVGA Precision, or the AMD's own software ''AMD OverDrive''

I am using also R9 270X form Asus, the TOP DC2 version, it allows me to overclock almost 100Mhz for the GPU clock and 400Mhz for the Memory clock with raise on the voltage from 1.175 to 1.188, while using the Asus GPU Boost.

I noticed that same settings used for overclocking in AMD's AMD OverDrive without raising the voltages, gave me also stable overclock on various benchmarks and games.

Btw what are your FPS on FC4?

Here are mine, everything at stock speeds and with latest updates at 1080p on high details
