Hello
I upgraded my VGA from 1GB to 4GB.
The original VGA NVIDIA GeForce GT 440 1GB DDR3 specifications are http://www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=1538 , Windows system rating is 6.7
The new VGA NVIDIA GeForce GT640 4GB DDR3 specifications are http://www.sparkle.com.tw/en/products_detail.asp?ID=95 , Windows system rating is 6.8
Intel motherboard DG35EC
Core2duo E8400 3.0 GH
It didn’t change in specifications and performance.
Why my VGA performance didn’t rise when I upgraded from 1GB to 4GB?
And how can I overclock the GT640?
Thanks

Solution
As a general rule, if you want to game, never look at any model numbers that end in 40 or less. The performance drops off a cliff when you go from say 750 to 740, let alone cards that were two generations ago.

GPU core power is usually the determining factor in its performance, often than not, VGA RAM size is a VERY poor indicator of RAM power. For example, a 760 2GB would greatly out perform a 640 4GB model simply because the core in 760 is MUCH more powerful.

It’s not only the windows system rating. I used (PerformanceTest) and it didn’t give much difference in rating.
Also on games performance it’s the same.

Video card memory size is the last thing you should check in a card.
Most important is the GPU chip, second important is the Video memory speed, just next is the memory size.
640 is just slightly faster than 440. They are different generations so comparing Cuda cores does not work.
if possible return the 640, it will not become any faster. If you want a gaming upgrade - state your budget, and the people will offer you suggestions.

Well after some research and paying money in a wrong place i found 2 important things.

1- The motherboard is PCI Express 1 and the VGA is PCI express 3

Summary of PCI Express Interface Parameters:

Base Clock Speed: PCIe 3.0 = 8.0GHz, PCIe 2.0 = 5.0GHz, PCIe 1.1 = 2.5GHz
Data Rate: PCIe 3.0 = 1000MB/s, PCIe 2.0 = 500MB/s, PCIe 1.1 = 250MB/s
Total Bandwidth: (x16 link): PCIe 3.0 = 32GB/s, PCIe 2.0 = 16GB/s, PCIe 1.1 = 8GB/s
Data Transfer Rate: PCIe 3.0 = 8.0GT/s, PCIe 2.0= 5.0GT/s, PCIe 1.1 = 2.5GT/s

2- I had to buy GDDR5 VGA if i want to get more rating in windows performance and make call of duty game work in good performance.

The motherboard is PCI Express v 2.0 actually. And PCIE speed is not so important actually.
If you want decent video performance GDDR5 is a good starting criteria, but not enough. Also memory bus at least 128 bit. And you MUST have knowledge of the GPU chip performance.
The most affordable DDR5 cards that will be a good upgrade are, (listed in increasing speed): , 7750, 7770, R7-250X, GTX 750, GTX 750 TI.
There are also GDDR5 versions of 7730 and 740 but these are not good enough. And also GT630 GDDR5 variant that is absolutely useless (for gaming new games, for videos and office work it is fine).

On GPU-Z it give me on Bus Interface: PCIE 1.1x16@x16 1.1

The differ you can feel it when a game is loading and its video is running at the same time, Also when you play the game.

The VGA is 3D and support 7.1 surround, i tested it on 3d tv its very good and it give red blue 3D also if you have normal TV.

A lot of games support 3D also Google earth support 3D.

The hole idea was to build a gaming PC on a Core2duo CPU because its performance is the same as core i5 on my laptop.

Till now the laptop with core i5 and 1gb nvidea VGA is giving performance better than the desktop.
