Hi guys,I recently bought some components for my new rig and still waiting for the cpu and the graphics card.In the meanwhile,I tried several times to power it on without the cpu, however I accidentally unplugged the ATX 24Pin connector while the system was on,for two times.

So I tried to re-plug it and the memory was blinking while I was trying to force it into the connector.Everything restarted as it should and next thing I did was to plug the fan molex connector on a molex->4 pin connector provided in the PSU box in order to be able to manage its speed. The system didn't turn on so I unplugged it.Now I'm really worried that it's fried as I noticed some light black spots on the board(don't know if they were there already though)and I don't want to RMA it.

All USB ports work,SATA devices too.Do you think the motherboard is burnt(I highlighted the black spots)? And,another question, both the power led and reset switch don't work, but the power switch does..do you think it's motherboard related?

And your black spots, that is like the paint,to protect the mobo surface.
Just RMA that board,(because your mistake is so terrible),I think this is best way you should go.
By the way, after you accidentally unplugged the ATX 24Pin connector while the system was on,your mobo's power led and reset switch don't work?

You should RMA that board, and remember you can't unplugged any mobo power connector while your system is on.....

I don't have a cpu yet. However my SATA devices seem to work(my hard disk spins as it should),USB ports work and I can't really smell anything bad. There's no sign of harm(capacitors are intact and nothing reveals any damage). As I said, the only thing which are not working are the reset switch and power led, which I think it's due to a manufacturing issue. Please help me,I'm really worried about the outcome of all of this. The CPU is coming in three days and I don't want to run into further issues.

The power switch works but the reset and power led didn't work even before I had done this.I think the motherboard is still good..I don't know if it's really worth the time. The ATX connector was the only thing plugged on the motherboard from the PSU so I don't know if it can damage anything on the board and, plus,I don't smell anything.I hope you can help me out my friend!

Well.... unplugged any connector when the system is on,maybe just a little danger.I would prefer RMA that board, anyway your reset and power led didn't work.
But you say you don't smell anything, that maybe is a paint, don't be too worries.I think that board is fine now, just reset and power led didn't work.If you don't want to RMA that board, just try to boot when you get the cpu.:) good luck.

Thank you so much!Yeah I tried to switch power sw with reset sw and the button did work!If the board works when I get my CPU this week,I won't lose time sending it in RMA just for the power led and reset switch, that would be really silly.I thank you again PIE!
