Hello I am looking to upgrade my computer in the coming months and was wondering what the new processors are looking like to get, that is including replacing my mobo, I have been out of the loop recently and don't have the time to read a bunch of articles to catch up so if someone can clue me in on whats going on that would be wonderful and a great help!!

Thank You in advance!!!

Skylake chips are coming out sometime late next year, with the 14nm process.
The Broadwell is just an improved version of haswell, but skylake will be an entirely new process and design.
Broadwell won't give too much of a performance difference, but will be more power-efficient and cooler.
Skylake is too far in the...
It depends on your BUDGET of course.

However, the two best CPU's for gaming (ignoring 6/8-core Intel's) are:

#1 - i5-4690K, or
#2 - i7-4790K

The second one is theoretically faster but in practice gives little benefit for gaming.

For graphics the best cards are the GTX970 or GTX980. The GTX980 is only about 15% faster on average but costs a lot more.

*Here's an example of a good gaming system:

- i5-4690K
- Asus Z97-A (motherboard)
- 8GB (2x4GB) 1866MHz CAS9 DDR3 memory
- GTX970 (i.e. EVGA ACX 2.0, 1.17GHz model)

Other:
- 120GB SSD (as little as $60)
- 1TB or larger HDD (Steam games folder, downloads etc)
- case
- suitable Power Supply
- Windows 8.1 64-bit
- Start8 (for Windows 8 to bring back Start Menu).

Most of the current generation processors are intel i5s. The i5-4670 or 4690's are the bees knees for gaming.
There aren't many processors on the horizon, the 5th generation intel processors will come out sometome next year, but they probably won't give a huge advantage over the current gen.
You should look for an lga 1155 motherboard, preferably with intels z97 chipset, the latest.
There the lga-2011 v3 socket, with all the most powerful CPU's, including the monster 8 core i7-5960x, but these won't benefit you in gaming much over much cheaper CPUs.

Thank you for the reply!!
I am well aware of the Haswell Chips and the GTX900 series,And even the Z97 Mobo, my question is the up coming chips from the Broadwell line? I heard somethinging about Skycooling chips or something. I guess I am asking whats the next gen look like I don't really get the advantages or what is necessarily coming out. Like is there going to be a new line of i7's or something of that nature?

Skylake is too far in the distance to judge yet.

That board is good, but is very expensive, if you are on a tighter budget I recommend the asus Z97-A
