Hi, i have windows 8.1 (64bit)
CPU: AMD FX-6300, GPU: AMD R9 270, 8 GB RAM (2 x 4GB RAM slots)

But my maximum ram shows as 4GB and the task manager says that 4GB ram is hardware reserved.

When i enter the bios it shows 4080 MB as physical memory.

I unplugged and replugged (i have also switched the rams) in the motherboard but it did not help.
I read somewhere about RAM remapping but i can't find it anywhere in BIOS.

Any solutions?

1) MSCONFIG-> Boot -> Advanced
2) If CPU or Memory options at top are checked, then UNCHECK, save and reboot

There are other solutions you can Google.

Possibly updating the BIOS, or resetting defaults for the BIOS would help but I'm not sure.

Also, read the motherboard manual and make sure the correct slots are being used (may be #2 and #4 but not sure for you). What I find very odd is you show 4GB in your BIOS but 8GB in Windows so sounds like a BIOS issue perhaps. You might want to Google your motherboard model along with the words "hardware reserved" as well.

You could look for a memory "remap" section in the BIOS though I'd try the DEFAULT settings first.

-Everything is ok with MSCONFIG.
-I reset BIOS to defaults (there was only fail-safe default and something else similar. Nothing worked.)
-Unfortunately my motherboard has only 2 slots (Model: MSI 760GMA-P34(FX) (MS-7641) (CPU1) )
-I have searched a lot of solutions on google and couldn't find anything to fix my problem that's why I made
a thread here.

The thing is that i find odd too that BIOS shows 4080 only memory. Some memory slots might be damaged or something similar (although i doubt), probably I'm gonna have to check this option too.
