I recently decided to check the temperature of my core 2 quad Q9300 using RealTemp. I heard that it is not good if it goes over 70°C. I ran a test with RealTemp and I played dead rising 3 and gta iV and the results are :

MAX : 83°C 76°C 77°C 79°C

MIN : 58°C 49°C 48°C 51°C (to get accurate minimum temps I left my pc to idle for 15 minutes)

my specs are :

core 2 quad Q9300
4 gb ddr3 1333mhz
ati radeon hd6670
450W XGR PSU
biostar G41d3c
micro atx case
150 gb + 2TB hdd

I have 2 extra case fans (one big one on the side and a smaller one at the back of case) aswell as my cpu cooler and GPU fans . ive been playing games for over a year with this configuration and havnt had much problems but I want to still play for long.
should I be worried about the temps and if its a problem how can I fix it ?
thanks for any help and replies.

Solution
yes mate that could be an issue even if you have top vents. your creating turbulence in the case. this can trap hot air and create hotspots.
your cpu is pretty old so may be suffering paste fatigue. (the paste hardens and doesnt transfer heat as well as it did.)
clean your internals, heatsync, fans and filters and replace the thermal paste. hopefully that will be enough to bring your temps back to normal.
(normal being 30 at idle, 60 at load)

I recently cleaned my entire computer but I think I should replace my thermal paste. also I have a fan mounted at the back of my case that blows air in but its right behind my heatsink blowing air into it do u think that could be the cause of the problem aswell
